Congress Leader Ravneet Singh Bittu
Days after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi announced that Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi would be the chief ministerial face of the upcoming Assembly polls in the state, party MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said on Friday that Punjab Congress Speaker Navjot Singh Sidhu would get the post of “Super CM”. “if the party is elected to power again.
“He (Navjot Singh Sidhu) will be given the post of Super CM,” Mr Bittu told ANI when asked what post the Congress party would give Navjot Singh Sidhu if elected to office. during the elections in Punjab.
The Congress leader said Mr Sidhu welcomed Mr Channi’s decision to be the face of the chief minister for the upcoming polls.
“Did (Navjot Singh) Sidhu raise questions about the decision to choose (Charanjit Singh) Channi as the face of CM? He welcomed the decision,” he said.
Mr Bittu further said that the Punjab man is praying for Chief Minister Channi’s victory and will come to vote “like a festival” on election day.
“Every poor man in Punjab prays for (Charanjit Singh) Channi in Gurudwaras and temples. An ordinary man like us prays for him. The poor say if (Charanjit Singh) Channi comes back to power, then only our children can study and dream to become chief minister one day. People would vote (Charanjit Singh) Channi on the day of the election, so would their festival. That’s what the BJP and the AAP are afraid of,” he said.
Hitting Aam Aadmi party supremo Arvind Kejriwal, who has pitched Bhagwant Mann as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming polls, Mr Bittu called the party the RSS’ “B team” and said Mr Kejriwal wanted ” divide” Punjab.
“BJP is nowhere in Punjab. B team of RSS, Aam Aadmi party led by Arvind Kejriwal. Punjab and Haryana have border disputes, we have language issues, water issues .(Arvind) Kejriwal wants to divide Punjab, wants to take its water,” he said.
Asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Punjab and his security breach in January during his visit to Ferozepur, the Congress MP said he should come by air as people might come out onto the roads to protest against him because of the rage they had due to their fight during the demonstration against the agricultural laws.
“He is welcome. We told people to listen to the Prime Minister. He should come by air. He would still have problems by road as he has kept all Punjabi on the road for over a year. How could they forget More than 700 farmers died during the protest If his car passes by the road there is anger in people’s minds so they can come out to protest against the Prime Minister So he should use the helicopter,” he said.
Mr Bittu further denounced Prime Minister Modi and the Law Enforcement Directorate (ED) for arresting Mr Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey in connection with an alleged illegal logging case. of sand and said that the Prime Minister is raging against the Chief Minister who comes from a bad background.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes his anger out on the Dalit (Channi) who comes from a poor background and became the Chief Minister of Punjab. They found Honey, a poor boy. ER beat him for 15 days,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Honey was arraigned in court on Friday in an alleged illegal sand mining case where he was taken into custody for 14 days.
