Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán: Russian-Ukrainian war “must be avoided”

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a speech on Saturday: “A war between Russia and Ukraine must be avoided.”
Addressing crowds of supporters at the Várkert bazaar in Budapest on Saturday, Orbán warned of the possibility of “hundreds of thousands, if not millions” of refugees arriving in Hungary from Ukraine if war broke out, “shattering fundamentally the political and economic situation in Hungary”.
In his speech launching the election campaign period, Orbán said that Hungary was working for peace, but various state bodies were preparing for the alternative.
“We have the appropriate scenarios and action plan in place in case of war,” he said.
Viktor Orbán, in his opening speech of the general election campaign, also told his supporters that “we have one thing in common: we share a passion for Hungary”.
Orbán, who leads the ruling Fidesz party, accused the left wing of adopting “a new political strategy” of “insulting people, making fun of people with disabilities, marching in the countryside and threatening pensioners and despising women. “.
